Cobalt Box acquires Safe Store: three locations in Belgium and the Netherlands

Cobalt Box is taking an important next step in its growth. The acquisition of Safe Store brings three self-storage locations into the Cobalt Box group: Ghent in Belgium and Terneuzen and Vlissingen in Zeeland. The two sites in Zeeland give Cobalt Box a physical presence in the Netherlands for the first time.

Customers will continue to see the familiar name for the time being: Safe Store Opslag, powered by Cobalt Box. This brings together Safe Store’s trusted local presence with the ambition, experience and resources of Cobalt Box.

Three locations, including the first two in the Netherlands

The acquisition of the two Dutch locations was completed on 13 July 2026 and includes both their real estate and operations. Together, Terneuzen and Vlissingen comprise 4,913 m² of self-storage and approximately 600 storage units. Both Dutch sites also offer room to expand their storage capacity in the future.

• Ghent: the Belgian location at Ververijstraat 15b, 9000 Ghent.
• Terneuzen: 2,000 m² of usable floor area at Techniekstraat 2.
• Vlissingen: 2,913 m² of usable floor area at Gildeweg 20.
• Terneuzen and Vlissingen combined: approximately 600 storage units and 4,913 m², with additional expansion potential.

Safe Store Opslag, powered by Cobalt Box

All three locations will continue to operate under the Safe Store Opslag name for the time being. The words “powered by Cobalt Box” show that Safe Store is part of a larger self-storage platform while retaining its familiar local identity in Ghent, Terneuzen and Vlissingen.
