Cobalt Box acquires Safe Store: three locations in Belgium and the Netherlands

Cobalt Box is taking an important next step in its growth. The acquisition of Safe Store brings three self-storage locations into the Cobalt Box group: Ghent in Belgium and Terneuzen and Vlissingen in Zeeland. The two sites in Zeeland give Cobalt Box a physical presence in the Netherlands for the first time.

In the Netherlands, the familiar name remains visible: Safe Store Opslag (powered by Cobalt Box). The Zeeland locations combine their trusted local presence with the ambition, experience and resources of Cobalt Box.

Three locations, including the first two in the Netherlands

The acquisition of the two Dutch locations was completed on 13 July 2026 and includes both their real estate and operations. Together, Terneuzen and Vlissingen comprise 4,913 m² of self-storage and approximately 600 storage units. Both Dutch sites also offer room to expand their storage capacity in the future.

• Ghent: the Belgian location at Ververijstraat 15b, 9000 Ghent.

Safe Store Opslag Zeeuws-Vlaanderen (Terneuzen): 2,000 m² of usable floor area at Techniekstraat 2.

Safe Store Opslag Vlissingen: 2,913 m² of usable floor area at Gildeweg 20.

• Terneuzen and Vlissingen combined: approximately 600 storage units and 4,913 m², with additional expansion potential.

Zeeland is a natural fit with Cobalt Box’s existing presence in Belgium. Its location close to the border provides a strong base from which to learn more about the Dutch market and grow step by step. Vastgoeddata reported on the transaction and growth plans.

Safe Store Opslag, powered by Cobalt Box

Ghent is now Cobalt Box Ghent (formerly Safe Store). The Dutch locations in Terneuzen and Vlissingen continue as Safe Store Opslag (powered by Cobalt Box). This preserves their familiar local identity in Zeeland while adding the experience and support of Cobalt Box behind the scenes.

For the Belgian location, practical information and current availability are available at Cobalt Box Ghent. In the Netherlands, visit Safe Store Opslag Zeeuws-Vlaanderen (Terneuzen) or Safe Store Opslag Vlissingen directly. Our Cobalt Box in the Netherlands page brings both locations together.

Continuity for customers and room for growth

Adding these three locations is about more than square metres. It is about making secure, accessible and user-friendly storage available close to households and businesses. Safe Store has built a strong local position. Cobalt Box intends to build on that foundation with a long-term vision, close attention to customers and targeted investments where they add value.

In Terneuzen and Vlissingen, Safe Store Opslag remains the familiar point of contact for existing and new customers. Behind the scenes, Cobalt Box supports further professionalisation and growth. That is what “powered by Cobalt Box” stands for: locally recognisable, backed by a growing storage platform.

Cobalt Box continues to grow

The move into the Netherlands is part of Cobalt Box’s broader ambition to expand in Belgium and other European markets. New opportunities will be assessed carefully and announced only when they are concrete.
